Deaths caused by opioid related overdoses have quadrupled since the turn of the century. More than half of these deaths are caused by prescription opioid painkillers. Fortunately, opportunities for overdose reversal have expanded in terms of both policy and treatment technology. The purpose of this brief course is to provide law enforcement officers, non-medical first responders, and other stakeholders with training in opioid overdose treatment and reversal options including the use of Naloxone.
