Bio:

Martin HURST has worked extensively in private and public sectors involving a variety of Law Enforcement and Social Service capacities since 1995. Martin previously worked as a gang specialized Probation Officer and as a Social Worker focusing on youth sexual exploitation. Presently, he is an acting Sergeant with the Metro Vancouver Transit Police. 
Martin is a departmentally recognized Speaker, Investigator, Policy Consultant, and Instructor of open source investigative standards. Martin has utilized Open Source methods and conducted Internet-based investigations for over 18 years, including the creation of training materials for the RCMP, and assistance to police files involving Homicide, Drug Trafficking, Organized Crime, Street Gangs, High Risk Youth, and Missing Persons. Martin has lectured throughout Australia, Europe, and North America for the Dept. Homeland Security, Municipal Police Forces, the Criminal Intelligence Service of Canada and its subsidiaries, RCMP, the BC & Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, Europol, the OPP Biker Enforcement Unit, the Norwegian Criminal Investigation Service, and internationally based Street Gang, Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, and Fraud Investigator Associations. 
A certified US Law Enforcement instructor (Washington, California, Arizona, Virginia, Nevada, Maryland, and Missouri States), Martin has instructed at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa, Ontario, RCMP-PRTC Chilliwack, British Columbia, and the ALERT/CFSEU Training facility in Edmonton, Alberta. Martin is presently an adjunct instructor for the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Martin recently created the first Canadian online training course for the Covert Use of Social Media. This online course is offered thru the Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN). The course has been used by over 50 Law Enforcement Agencies within Canada and the United States.
